The Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 32-inch pairs a 4K resolution with a genuine 165Hz refresh rate on a Mini LED backlight — a combination that was rare when this panel launched, since most 4K-165Hz monitors of the era used plain edge-lit VA or IPS backlighting instead.
The Mini LED array is what makes the HDR numbers credible: Samsung rates peak brightness at 1000 nits, and because the backlight is locally dimmed rather than a single uniform panel, bright HDR highlights don't wash out the surrounding dark areas the way they do on cheaper edge-lit "HDR" monitors.
The 1000R curvature is aggressive — noticeably tighter than the 1800R curve common on ultrawides — which works well at typical gaming-desk viewing distances but is worth trying in person if you also use the monitor for spreadsheet or document work, where a flatter panel is usually preferred.
