Before smartwatches and second monitors made at-a-glance system stats routine, the Logitech G15 did it with a built-in 160x43 pixel LCD panel wedged above the number pad. The second-generation model (2007) fixed the display in place and trimmed the macro-key count from 18 to 6, trading a bit of raw programmability for a noticeably more compact footprint.
The 6 G-keys still cover real ground thanks to three toggleable macro states — effectively 18 available macros without needing extra physical keys — and the orange backlighting with adjustable brightness was genuinely ahead of most keyboards on the market at the time.
Two decades later, the G15's GamePanel LCD is a curiosity rather than a must-have, but the keyboard itself remains a solid example of function-first gaming keyboard design from an era before RGB became the default selling point.
